Alastair Pilgrim,
a student at Cambridge University, decided to have a birthday party with
a difference, so he approached the Rendlesham club The Torwood Wheelers
to ask if they could help organize an introduction to the sport of Rhoenrads
for his friends.
Alastair had been to the club before on some of the courses that they
have run and wanted to introduce his friends to the sport, so for his
22nd birthday, 11 of his friends, mainly members of the Cambridge University
Trampoline Club, joined him at the Rendlesham Sports Centre for 3 hours
of wheeling. The Club Coach John Colles and two of the regular members,
Tony Quinton and James Gardiner helped the students through some of the
many moves that can be performed in a 'Rhoenrad' or gym wheel. They proved
to be a very able group, no doubt the trampolining helped, but the day
vas very much enjoyed by all.
The Torwood Wheelers meet at Rendlesham Sports Centre every Friday at
20:00 until 21:00 and welcome new members. Most people have never seen
the sport but they are very welcome to come and try.
Further information can be obtained from John Colles on 01394 460233
or via the club website www.rhoenrads.colles.me.uk
