Ipswich Bach Choir - About the Choir

The choir has about 50 to 60 members and rehearses on a Wednesday evening from 19:30 until 21:30 at Rose Hill Primary School, Derby Road, Ipswich IP3 8DL.

It attracts singers from a wide age range and a wide geographical area and In order to encourage younger members, mebership is free to under 26 year olds.

Our conductor is Patrick McCarthy who ensures that the rehearsals are fun as well as musically challenging

We usually perform two major concerts a year, one in early December and one just before Easter, normally, though not exclusively, at the Ipswich Corn Exchange. On occasions we combine with other choirs for a performance at Snape.

Ipswich Bach Choir has played a major role in the musical life of Ipswich and East Suffolk for over 75 years. Our repertoire has included most of the major oratorios but we also try to perform some shorter works and a small number of 20th Century works.

A number of social events are also held each year, open to members, their friends and families.
